  Help Elders poking nose in

  what can i do when elders want to poke their nose in?.

  they want to have another chat with me and my wife, but we dont want to, it just gets us down..

  If you have reasons why you don't want to be DF/DA, (like you still want to be able to talk to your family and friends etc. without them running for the hills), lie when they ask the DF/DA type questions and tell them what you need them to hear to maintain some kind of OK status in the cong..

  They won't be honest with you if they get caught out, so treat them the same way and don't feel any guilt for any dishonesty.

  In my youth JWs called such dishonesty Theocratic Warfare and it still exists but without being named. If you deny yourself your version of 'Theocratic Warfare' while they try to protect the congregation and your JW family from you, you give them the upper hand and they will win.

  I can’t find it!

  i need some serious help on something that i read here on this board, and so i am going to do my best to explain what i’m looking for.

  i need this, so i can’t share with my brother who is still in.. it has to do with the organization saying in affect that each member in the congregation has the right to decide for themselves what they choose to do, (that is whether they choose to be apart of the organization without repercussions) and that they would not think of interfering with our own conscience, and that if they chose otherwise that it would be their own decision.. now some might think that the society wouldn’t write something like that, but they did, and i read it, and after reading it, i said to myself “they don’t follow this, they never have.” .

  if you could locate this for me, i would be very grateful!.

  It may be more effective to manipulate your brother into making a statement that you know that the WT contradicts, then putting the onus on him to do the research to prove the statement to you.

  JWs think that they have all the answers, so instead of confronting them with a statement that you have to back up, ask a question that you know they can't answer, then use guilt and their own self proclaimed despise of double standards to keep them honest and on topic when they try to weasel their way out of an honest answer.

  Is My Wife Awakening?

  every now and then, my wife will talk about how things are not making sense within the org.

  i usually just dismiss it as her playing mind games with me.

  for example, she would ask why there are so many branches being closed or why so many congregations are being merged.

  Smiddy`s Wedding Anniversary Today

  hi friends one and all i just thought i would let you know it`s our 57th wedding anniversary today .

  and we are setting off this morning for 3 nights in eden nsw i think it has more to offer than the one in genesis.. with a bit { or a lot } of luck we will make our fortune .

  if you had 2 minutes with an old witness friend or with a family member to convince them the 'truth' is a lie and the gb isnt being directed by god what would you say to get their attention that might make them question their beliefs?.

  Every time I ask one a question they tell me they'll look it up and get back to me. Not one has ever come back with an answer. AFAIK none of them have left. They have too much to lose if they have to tell their friends and families that they've all been sucked in by a bunch of doomsday nutters.

  Has the Governing Body EVER apologized for anything?

  geoffrey jackson testified to the arc that the governing body has apologized for things in the past, so an apology to sexual abuse victims is "perceivable".

  what has the governing body ever apologized for?.

  22 q. just on that point, mr jackson, has the governing body23 considered apologising to survivors of child sexual abuse24 at the hands of elders within the organisation?25 a. i haven't been in any discussions with regard to that.26 27 q. is that something that you foresee might happen ‐ in 28 other words, that an apology at least be considered?29 a. the governing body has apologised on other matters, so30 for me to say ‐ i can't speak collectively for everybody, 31 but we have apologised on things in the past, in other32 areas, so it is perceivable.. .

  its extremely short, as in one sentence long.

  i'm not giving them a reason coz i don't need to coz it's my life and my choice and i don't have to answer to the boe or gb.

  so this morning i had a conversation with my grandmother about going out in service.

  remind you i'm only 17. i tried to ask her why i had to go out in service if this isn't what i believe in and whatnot.

  she went on saying basically these are the rules for this house.

  You did well by not telling her what you know. It is way better to keep your opinions to yourself and just ask a very occasional question, in such a way that she feels obligated to answer it, then very calmly and without being confrontational, make her explain any dishonesty she uses to weasel her way out of properly answering that question. Keep focussed on making her answer the question that you asked so that she can't morph it into some other question that she is more comfortable with.

  the first study article is about getting bible studies and children baptized.

  there is much more emphasis placed on parents to get their own children baptized rather than focusing on bible students.

  they try to impress on others the need for urgency.

  I don't know why anyone is surprised by this. I haven't read the article, but from the comments, there hasn't been much change, if any. The psychological warfare on parents and children doesn't seem any different from when I was a child of JW's in the sixties.
